World-Class Pediatric Care Close to Home

Disclaimer: Many thanks to CHOP at Virtua for sponsoring today’s story and encouraging me to seek out their services when my child is hurt or ill.

As a mother I always fear the day my son becomes sick and needs to be taken to an Emergency Room. Now that I live in New Jersey I am thankful knowing that I can go to a local Virtua and receive World-Class Pediatric Care Close to Home thanks to Virtua and CHOP teaming up.

CHOP-Virtua_001When Jaiden was a baby he would constantly throw up after a bottle. I was a young single mom and I can’t not express how much this scared me. It just wasn’t normal for a child to not keep a single bottle down. This situation had me confused and tired.

I took my son to see his regular doctor who thankfully didn’t just brush it off or think it was just the formula. His doctor required further testing and that I go see a CHOP Doctor. Knowing how amazing CHOP Doctors are I was thankful to have my son under their care. They ran some test and discovered my son had GERD Reflex (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease).

Not only was I able to find out what was wrong with my baby, I also discovered ways to help him keep his food down and that he would grow out of it, in which he did. Knowing that I have World-Class Pediatric Care Close to Home is something I can feel at ease about. I want the best doctors to care for my son if anything is to go wrong. He is my world and deserves the best care possible.

Virtua is a pillar of the community and they are always there to treat those who come through those doors. Five years ago Virtua and CHOP have teamed up to bring the best possible care to those who need it.

The doctors and nurses are there with you every step of the way to help you with your concerns and treatment. They provide the highest quality of care possible and me, as a mother, this is something I look for. There is nothing worse then having a scared sick child. I expect the nurses and doctors to help comfort my child and not scare him any more then he already is.

I am thankful knowing I have such great care around the corner when I need it. If there ever comes a day my son gets hurt I know I will be heading to Virtua where they have great care and services and the best doctors available.

I remember my oldest son suffering from GERD reflux. That was over 15 years ago and we went to our doctors to find out what ways we can help to either get rid of it or control it. I’m happy to hear that you were able to see a doctor who knew what they were talking about. I’ve never heard of CHOP before now though.

My youngest had reflux – it is literally the worst thing for a parent when a baby can’t eat! I am not familiar with CHOP, but so happy that you are able to utilize their services for your son. As parents we always want the best advice, knowledge and services that are out there for our children, especially when they are sick.

My middle child had reflux! Every bottle we would have to be equipped with a burp cloth to catch it! It would be a good handful or two!! Having a good doctor near by makes it easier to handle situations like this and it puts a moms mind at ease

It is so scary to watch your child be sick and not know what to do to help them to feel better. Having access to a good doctor definitely helps lower the stress level so you can relax a little more. Not too much, though — boys are always up to something!

Something that my mom has always said to me about parenting – “the worst part of parenting is when you have a sick or hurt child” . After being a parent for almost 6 years – I totally agree. It is so hard but having a line to the doctor to helps sounds like a great option. THanks for sharing this information.

You have a beautiful son and I am very glad that you were able to get him the help he needs. Its hard thing to deal with, when you child is sick and you don’t know what is really going on. To have a place close that you trust is a good thing.

I am so glad that the doctors and nurses at CHOP were able to help you! We had to visit the CHOM when my son was an infant and they really knew how to make you feel at ease. It was great to know that they were so close!
