Review: Asher and Watson Set Sail

I have a love for books and I am hoping my son will one day find a love for them like I do.
I love getting my son new books and being able to sit along side him and read to him. It’s one of my most favorite things to do!

I received a book called Asher and Watson Set Sail by Julie Schoen.
This book is about a little boy, his dog and a Pirate’s life.

The story line is rather cute. I really like how the story was done and how Asher and Watson went looking for treasure. I really think this is a book to remind children to use their imagination. As a mom I find it just gets harder and harder to get your children to play and use their imagination. Everything is about technology and there really isn’t anything wrong with it because it is how the world is now, but it is nice to see our children out there being kids!

My son enjoyed the book as well! My son loves Pirates so this is up his ally! I love the illustrations in this book. I think they were nicely done! I like how they were drawn and the colors they used. My son loved the drawings as well. Almost any child can relate to this book! I mean it’s PIRATES!!! Hehehehe. I like how the book was done as well. You have your story on one side and the pictures on the other.

Children love pictures so these are a must! It is a great way to really get a child’s attention!

As you can see in the photo above the illustrations are really fun! Asher and Watson look like they are having a blast and kids love to see illustrations like this! It makes them smile!

I really enjoyed the story! I actually love everything about this book except the way it was printed.
As you can see there is a lot of space above and under each of the illustrations.  This is the only downfall I would say. Everything is kind of squashed, even the cover is. This book was meant to be horizontal, however it was printer vertically.

With that being said my opinion of this book hasn’t been affected. My son enjoyed this book, as did I. The story is cute and fun! I mean who doesn’t like a simple story that just makes you smile? Now with that being said, I honestly can’t say I would buy this or not. The book isn’t all that appealing due to it being printed wrong.

Now this could just be for the copy I received, I’m not sure….

If i were in a store and picked this book up, I would purchase it. The story starts off in a bath tub with bubbles! This is a great place for any child to use their imagination!

I think it is important for child to use their imagination and let their mind wonder. It’s important for kids to be kids!

Overall, I love this book! I think it was simple and cute! Straight to the point and no beating around the bus! Kept my son interested especially since he loves pirates!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I love, love, love reading and am very happy that both my 3 & 6 year old do too. That being said I still have to fight the “technology battle” daily. I think it’s so important to read to them as much as possible and for them to see you reading too. That looks like a fantastic book, who doesn’t love pirates?

I think it’s really important to introduce books and a love of reading to your kids early on and it really sounds like you’re doing a fantastic job of that with your handsome young man! I LOVE those illustrations! They’re super adorable :)

Thank you for sharing this book review, looking from the photos I think this is the kind of readings I am missing from childhood – the comic but very expressive drawings is already telling me the story without even reading the manuscripts.
