Crazed Valentines Day Mom Special

This past week was a bit on the crazy side.
The weather, as usual, went from nice and sunny but still cold, to freezing you butt off.

I have dealt with my son’s issues in school.
He had 3 half days due to parent teacher conferences. We had a lunch date with my dad. The day after we had his meeting and he is in danger of failing math and reading. I knew this for about a week or so now. I wish I was told sooner but its good. I got this!

I have my blog that I am busting my butt on and my own homework, which of course I am behind on.
Do you know what I do?

If you said forgot Valentines was today, then you my friend… Are Correct!!!

I welcome you to the Crazed Valentines Day Mom Special!
It’s Thursday the 12th, 10pm at night. I am now realizing tomorrow is the day you send your little one off to school with Valentines Goodies. I start freaking out a bit! I could blow it off. It really isn’t the end of the world, right? I think about my little boy, going into class and having nothing to hand out. Excuse my language, but I would feel like a major ass!

So, I sit and brew up some ideas. I am sitting at my desk chatting with one of my favorite ladies when the idea hits me at 10:05PM. Yes, I confirmed the time via text messages. Hahaha. I bought myself the Silhouette Cameo last year and I have done a bunch of things with this. Wine glasses (which have been a huge hit), car decals, decals for home, and a few other smaller projects.

I hop on the computer and start looking around to make this happen. I get 3 designs and I a mere $0.04 short in my paypal. UGH!!! I have to get rid of one. Okay, not big deal. Let’s move on!

If you follow me on Instagram (which you totally should! =P), you may have seen this photo.
I bought these two monsters from the Silhouette design shop. Now I was so excited. I was like, this is gonna be great. I may actually get to go to bed before midnight. WRONG!!!!!!

The monsters come in pieces. So now I have to put them together and only after cutting a bunch do I realize I shouldn’t have taken the fingers away from the one hand. Oops.. Too late!
I ended up only using one Monster. I took this shot at 10:26pm. I am already tired and now my knees are bothering me from how I am sitting.

This is a serious process. If you don’t know about the Silhouette Cameo, you can replace the blade with pens they have available (you can use others that aren’t their brand but that is another post not in the near future, lol) and the Cameo will draw your design. This is what you see happening in the photo above.

You draw your design and then inside the app, you have to select the parts you don’t want to have cut. Now this is amazing feature. I love it. Actually this is the first time I used it and I am itching to use it again!! I have 6 monsters to a sheet and I have to go in each of them and unselect the parts I don’t want cut. This way it will only cut around the design.

And by doing that, you end up with this. Now they are smaller then I would have liked. But time was passing and I was already super tired.
The thing is you have to draw them, unselect the parts you don’t want cut, switch pen to blade, cut them, peel them off, go back to the application and reselect everything to be drawn again, switch blade to pen and do it all over again…. Do you feel my frustration? He had 30 other kids in his class. Do you feel it now? lol =P

I am on the last 6 and this happens. My Silhouette Cameo was no longer calibrated. Do you feel the frustration now? Haha
I have no idea how to fix this. So now I have to google what in the world I am doing! I find a tutorial that can help. I fix the issue and I move on with my night.

Now, it would have been easier to cut the pieces and glue them for sure. Well I don’t have any colored card stock on me. I wish I did. Oh man, how I wish I had a stash. But I don’t. I had white. So I had to color them. UGH!! WHY WHY WHY DID I FORGET THIS DARN HOLIDAY????? That is the nice thoughts I was thinking! The other thoughts would not at all be appropriate!!

Okay. How hard can it be to color 30 monsters. I mean they were only a mere 3, maybe 3.5 inches.
Why did I even bother thinking this may be easy? If you guessed that I was WRONG, then my friend, you are CORRECT!!

Now these little butts want to play tricks on me. They are laughing in my face.
I am not amused!!!!

I am coloring and coloring. I am all excited. My pile is getting larger. I am like sweet!!! I get so excited and I tell myself DO NOT count them. I held off for a bit but then I was like.. I have to! OMG THE BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!!! I was only done 16. I believe I actually shed a tear at this point!

I am finally done!!! Can anyone guess what time this photo was taken? Something will tell me you all are WRONG!!! Haha
This loving, beautiful, so wonderful photo was taken at 4:10 am.

Please note, coloring small monster is not easy in the least. In fact, it was horrible. You wanted to be perfect by the arms because you didn’t want to rip them and have to make more!!
If one would have ripped, I would have cried. I would legit huddle in a dark corner, shake and cry! My hand was so crapped by the end I didn’t know what to do. I had two left around 3 am and was so tempted to leave them white! Haha. So I was really done around 3:15 ish but I had to clean up first. I had paper everywhere, colored pencils, wires and stuff. I had to clean before I took my final pics.

And that my friends is the Crazed Valentines Day Mom Special.
I truly hope you enjoyed this. Take it from me, do not forget Valentines Day. Any holiday for that matter!

Don’t forget to pin the pinterest image below!
I would love you if you pinned! =D

Just to let you know how my friday started. It was 9 degree’s out!!
Have a wonderful evening everyone! And don’t worry, you can laugh because I am! HAHAH =P

Those designs are super cute. They remind me of Mike of the Monsters Inc. They are even cuter when colored. Whoa I would not have had any energy doing those art stuff at 4:10 in the morning. It’s not particularly easy when you feel sleepy. It’s like cramming to finish a homework. :P

What cute homemade valentines. You are obviously a very creative person and your son is so happy to have you. I love reading through blogs of artistically talented people and gathering inspiration. You have to update us and let us know if the valentines were a hit (I’m sure they were)!

These are so cute! And the weather was crazy here in PA. I’m glad that we chose to stay in. I didn’t make Valentine’s this year, I bought them. But trying to stick those silly tatoo things in the little slits about drove me crazy. And I’m with you on the counting part – it felt like it took forever!

Wow, you did a sweet thing! It’s one of those things that our kiddos don’t know that we do in the background, but it is one of those memories you will have that will bring a smile, well in the future when you’ve caught up on your sleep anyway. ;) They are really cute, and special because of the story and that you made them. I’m afraid I would have been looking for an open store to buy a box of Valentine cards. LOL

Yes! I have to agree. It is just one of those things us moms do for our little ones and something I will remember. He will to as he did have to write his name on 30 valentines before school! Haha. It would have been tempting to go out and find a store but i was just like what the heck, why not? hahha Never again though!

Hey Mama! I love that I can totally relate to so much of this post – and hey! I followed you on Instagram, too :) I need to get one of these contraptions STAT. How adorable is this? Is it sort of like a Cricut? My mother-in-law has a Cricut that I’ve used a few times and I’m just wondering what the difference is. Either way, those little monsters are adorable! <3

I love the Cameo. Omg I love it!!! I know Cricut has come out with a new one but I don’t know how it works. I do know the older ones, you needed to buy cartridges to cut shapes. So if you wanted letters you have to buy a cartridge that was a font. Same thing with owls or any other designs. So on top of buying the machine and the supplies you had to purchase the cartridges too. Now the cameo, you just have to buy the machine and the designer software and you can design and cut anything you like. You don’t have to spend $30 bucks extra for a cartridge with a pirate theme. Now the cameo also has a only shop of designs which range from like 50 cents to a dollar! I only paid 75 cents for the monster. Now that is for personal use only of course. It’s just more cost effective. But like I said, I am not sure how their newest one works.

So I looked and it still seems you would have to purchase digital cartridges with the new one. =(

The weather here has also been nice and sunny – but instead of freeze your butt off, we’ve been having this SUPER warm streak. Here I am wearing a tank top right now! It HAS to be hot for me to wear anything other than long sleeves, lol.

By the way, nice job on the little monster-guy valentines, they’re too stinkin’ cute!

I think you ended up doing a great job. I did NOTHING for Valentines day for my kids school. I did however take them out on Valentines Day and they had a blast. I’m thinking of getting myself a Silhouette machine. I need to get a bit more crafty. :)

Those little monsters are freakin adorable! Sounds like a pretty crazy week. I think the week before last week is when I got the kid’s report cards and Jr is passing everything and even imporoved from the last 9 weeks. Hailey on the other hand had TWO F’s in S.Studies and Writing. WHAT? Yea. Apparently she had a project she never told me about ever.. I always do her homework with her, she just wasn’t turning it in. So I emailed her teacher, told him her home life is a hot mess, from now on when something big is happening to email me, because I really want her grades to improve so she can pass. I also told her, it doesn’t get easier from here on out. Next year is middle school.. It’s only gonna get harder. Ugh.
