A Steven Spielberg Film: Bridge of Spies

I love movies that are similar to Bridge of Spies. The real life events and people take my breathe away. It’s amazing to think that we go on about or daily lives and there is an entire world out there that we just don’t see. Bridge of Spies was truly one magnificent movie!!

Bridge_of_Spies_001‘A dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, Bridge of Spies is “absolutely brilliant and totally riveting” (Bill Zwecker, Chicago Sun-Times). James Donovan (Tom Hanks) is a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on a nearly impossible mission to negotiate the release of a captured American U-S pilot High stakes and suspense power a story that captures the essence of a man who risked everything, vividly bringing his personal journey to life.’

Movies like Bridge of Spies capture my interest. I love intense movies full of history and personal stories. I was extremely impressed with the outcome of Bridge of Spies. The way they were able to capture the time of the Cold War and what our worlds were like in this time period.

This was down right one of the greatest movies I have seen in a long time. The movie was about The Cold war and the exchange of a spy for two American’s. However, it was about the personal journey of James Donovan in that period and how is life was impacted. James Donovan was sent on this impossible mission to exchange a spy that had captured in America for a U-2 pilot that was believed to be a spy. However while in the middle of this Cold War a student had been captured and James Donovan reminds us that Everybody Matters and he didn’t only want to pursue this exchange for the U-2 pilot but the student as well.

I plan to buy this for the bonus features. This has made my top 10 favorite movies of all time. I can not recommend it more. Aside from Tom Hanks being one of the best actors ever in my opinion the story is just something we can all learn from and appreciate. I love researching the history behind the story and did so right after watching it. I was not aware of all the bonus features on the DVD and will be sure to get it as soon as possible. Thanks for this!

I’m totally going to check out Bridge of Spies now! Living abroad means I don’t hear a lot about most films aside from the blockbuster action films that get exported so I’m always on the lookout for articles and blog posts about films I’d actually like to see. This one sounds right up my alley and I’m fascinated by Berlin’s history, so that bonus feature is on my must watch list. Thanks for sharing this :)

I’ve wanted to see Bridge of Spies ever since it was out in theaters. I’m a big fan of Spielberg’s work and who doesn’t love Tom Hanks? Plus, the Cold War era was just so rife with intrigue you know?

I adore Spielberg – all of his films are my favorites. My husband really wanted to see Bridge of Spies in the theater but we never made it there, I blame the kids! ;) Maybe I will pick this up for his Father’s Day gift. I bet he would enjoy a movie night.

I’m not sure how, but I’ve never seen or heard of this movie before. My husband would really love it, so I need to find it. The bonus features sound awesome, too! While I never paid much attention in History when I was in school, I find myself more and more interested in it as I get older. Weird how that works!

What a coincidence! My husband and I just watched this on Netflix last weekend. What a fantastic movie…long, but fantastic! And yes, we never know what’s really going on in the world around us. It’s nice to have these kinds of films that open our eyes to that!

If it’s a Spielberg film, I think it can easily be identified with greatness. The movie sparks a lot of interesting scenes and the plot also makes me curious about how the negotiations go in a war setting. An impossible mission makes it furthermore a good story.
