Review: Keurig 2.0 K550

October 1, 2014

Hey there Adorkablii fans!!
How are you all doing? I hope well!

I was chosen to review the new Keurig 2.0 K550 from Influenster!
How exciting is that?? I was over the moon when I got that email!!! =)

I love my coffee. Whether it be made at home or if I grab a cup while I am out. Either way I really do enjoy my coffee. With that I want to introduce the Keurig 2.0 K550.

Now in all honesty I was excited when I was chosen to receive the new Keurig 2.0. I mean who wouldn’t?
We have a Keurig in the house but it’s not mine, it belongs to my sister-in-law. Now that doesn’t mean I don’t use it, but if I move out I don’t get to take it with me! Hahaha. I want one of my own of course! lol

Now when we got the Keurig I didn’t open it right away. I was actually a bit sad because it is just a Hot Brewer. I’m an iced coffee kind of girl. So I was disappointed to say the least. Well i finally got around to busting this baby out!

I was very impressed with the amount of cups that were included. Also Included was of course instructions and registering your Keurig information. There was also a carafe included which was exciting. I think I was more excited about the carafe more then anything! hehe

Setting up the Keurig 2.0 was very easy. I actually didn’t need to look at the instructions or anything. I personally think it was pretty self-explanatory. The only thing I actually looked at the instructions for was this one piece inside the water filter that holds one of those filter packs. I actually had a bit of trouble taking the top off the piece that goes inside the canister. It actually took two people to get it off. I am hoping that is because it is brand new and with time it will be a bit easier.

I will have to photograph this part for you all. I totally spaced and didn’t think to photograph it. Oops.

Now, I am still disappointed that this is just a hot brewer. I will always enjoy iced over hot coffee. However, I do enjoy hot coffee every now and then. The carafe is pretty exciting. I do love being able to brew just one cup at a time but it is nice to be able to brew for others without having to brew multiple times. It does make mornings easier for my sister-in-law and I. We both enjoy coffee in the morning before we get the day going with children in school so this is a huge help.

Now for us, we just need a bigger one! Haha. We both have these mugs that hold about 20 oz so I am sure you can see the problem here. We use these cups more than anything so you know we need our coffee! We have a coffee addiction! Is there an AA class for coffee? If so, I think me and her may have to join shortly since thanks to a very special person, we have fallen in-love with StarBucks. OMG… That is another blog post! HAHA

Even though I was disappointed about the Keurig 2.0 being just a hot brewer, overall I really do love it! I still would love to see them take the Keurig 2.0 and add a brew over iced feature.

The Keurig 2.0 has a timer where it can be set to turn on and off at a certain time which is awesome because in the morning I can come down and just pop in a cup and start brewing our coffee. I don’t have to turn it on or wait for it to heat up (which doesn’t take very long anyways). Something I also found very cool was the Keurig 2.0 has different wall papers. I think this is just a way to add a personal touch and I am totally okay with that! hehe.

Overall I really do love the Keurig 2.0. The Keurig 2.0 has a few different models with a few differences. I was extremely excited to receive the K550 as it holds 80 ounces of water. Also the Keurig 2.0 does have special KCups which is a bit of a downer for those who are purchasing the Keurig 2.0 and already have cups lying around.

Would I recommend the Keurig 2.0 – Yes, Long as you do your research.
Each Keurig is different. The Keurig 2.0 is not ideal for everyone. It doesn’t have a reusable cup which is not very cost efficient for some of us. It doesn’t have a brew over ice option which in my opinion… pretty much blows. The carafe cups are limited at the time. Now remember that is because this is a new thing and in time more will come out.

Now just because the Keurig 2.0 doesn’t have a brew over ice option, that doesn’t mean you cant. However, I tried and I didn’t like it. The water was too hot and the ice just melted to much for my liking. Yes, it can be done but for me I didn’t like it.

Besides the lack of brew over ice my biggest issue with this Keurig is that I have to buy the cups for them. I honestly can’t see myself going out and paying $9.00+ for a box of k-cups.  Once these cups run out the chances are this Keurig will be sitting around unused for some time. Overall I do love the Keurig 2.0 but i do think it is a step backwards in some areas for this company.

I feel as though this product was less about their customers and more about pocketing even more money. Not everyone can go out and spend major bucks for their coffee fix every week. The fact that this Keurig 2.0 only uses new k-cups is a huge set back. It really doesn’t allow their customers to have control. I personally love to buy dunkin donuts coffee, store it in the freezer and it will last me all month. Not bad for $8 bucks. With the Keurig 2.0 that is not possible. I have to buy what they have available instead of enjoying the coffee i would like to purchase.

Yes, I would still recommend the Keurig 2.0. Just do your research. Always research when buying something you are not sure of. If you are okay with heading out and buying cups every week and you love hot coffee, then this baby is for you. If you drink coffee everyday and can not afford to buy cups very often then this is not the Keurig for you.

Over all the Keurig does what it says it does and for that I give it a Thumbs up!

Please do your research!

Be sure to check the Keurig 2.0 out on their website! Also don’t forget to follow them on their social networks.

We drink coffee daily so I don’t think this would be optimal for us. And given that we live on a sailboat space is limited. But thanks for the review.

The Keurig 2.0 should be a must for anyone who loves doing coffee at home. It’s a good investment in the kitchen instead of buying coffee every day from the cafe.

Wow this looks so nice. Keurigs are so easy and create so much less mess than using ground coffee and filters

I need to get one of these. I have a really old Keurig, but it’s time for an upgrade.

Great review! I have a larger Keurig and was interested in this one for the carafe feature as mine does just the one cup at a time. But I was a little disappointed that it doesn’t use the same kcup system as the one I currently have.

I have an old old keurig! I real don’t like that they made this so it can’t be used with other kcups. I’m hoping someone finds a way around that.

I have heard good and bad about this machine. Either way I know it is exactly what I need! We frequently host parties, and it get tiresome changing pods on a single serve for 30-40 people. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I would love to try this Keurig. I have a Tassimo but i find Keurig has a better selection of flavors. It would be great if it could brew iced coffee.

I’m a Dunkin Donuts girl myself but my aunt owns a Keurig that I tried this summer and I loved it. I actually want to get one. This review is helping me in my decision. It makes me see that I have to learn more about the cup sizes and the overall cost to owning a Keurig vs buying coffee.

You are so lucky! I have been wanting to get a Keurig for awhile. I guess it’s a good thing I haven’t bought yet because of this new model. :) Nice review!

Great product to review. That’s a bummer about the reusable cup. I am not a coffee drinker but my friends that do have a keurig have the reusable cup. Nice review

I am an Influenster too and I am so happy every time I get selected to review a new box. I am not a coffee drinker, but I do love the smell. I was watching on Youtube a few of my favorite youtubers who reviewed the new Keurig and they were all mentioning that you have to put some specific cups in the machine, the ones with a digital code on top, otherwise the machine won’t work, which is such a shame.

i loved my machine before the baby and during pregnancy…as he gets older I think a whole pot of coffee would do just fine. All at once, right there in a big o’ coffee mug. Since I havent brought myself to toss it, I purchased this little plastic reusable refill thing and buy the usualy bags of coffee now. I think it is cheaper.
