Pop-Secret Forts kind of day! #PopSecretForts

There is nothing more amazing then seeing a smile on your child’s face. At least that is my opinion. I am a believer that kids should be kids and every now and then I do forget it. I am a strict mom and I have raised my son to be very respectful and well mannered. Now he is only 6 (soon to be 7) and does have his off days.

Anyways, kids should be kids. And one of the best ways to do that, is with Pop-Secret Popcorn!

Here in PA we were supposed to get this big snow storm. However, there was some type of Air drift or something of the sort that kept the storm from hitting us. Now, me personally I was okay with the lack of snow but I know a lot of kids were excited for some snow days. Well we had just one snow day and we made some fun with it.

We decided to have a Pop-Secret Forts kind of day! We used the dinning room table, a chair, a sheet and some blankets for our fort.

Pop-Secret_002
Here we have the boyfriend doing all the work. Hehe =P

I am not a fort building kind of person. Give me some yarn and needles and I will crochet something. Maybe some cake mix and such and I can make some yummy deserts. I was just gonna throw a blanket over the coffee table and call it a day… Not him! =P He said if we were gonna build a fort… We (meaning him hehe) were gonna build a fort!

Once the fort was built, Jaiden was happy! Nothing like a boy and a fort. He had the Disney Channel going and was enjoying his Pop-Secret Popcorn!

Pop-Secret_004
Yummy! Who doesn’t like pop-corn!!! =P Okay don’t answer because I know some people don’t. Haha! =)

Pop-Secret Popcorn is something we always have in our house. It’s the perfect snack to eat while you watch movies or when the kiddies play their video games. I love a rainy night were we can curl up on the couch with our pop-secret popcorn and watch a movie. Kids, of course prefer the fort! Can you blame them?

It is so nice your man got involved! :) Great fort! My kids would have been angry had they been promised a snow day by the weather man and not gotten it. lol :)

Becka, Thankfully he didn’t know how bad of a storm we were supposed to get otherwise i think he’s be really upset. I started off just by telling him he had a half day and later told him he had no school the next. I was really happy my boyfriend got involved. Jaiden was very happy and the fort was fun! =)

Oh I we are huge popcorn lovers here at my house too and I know the kids would have loved to build a fort. Nothing says snowday like a movie and some popcorn. Jaiden looks so happy in his fort and luckily you had a great boyfriend was willing to help build a fort with you.

Amanda, I love popcorn! I don’t eat it often due to missing a cap and popcorn does like to get stuck but I do love it. The fort was fun. I love taking the photos though, hehe. The fort was all Jaiden. He loved it. And I am. I really am lucky to have him! =D

I’m with you on who doesn’t love popcorn? I alternate between microwave and homemade on the stove- my favorite treat! Unfortunately, I don’t have pop secret over here in Sweden- just a generic store brand! I have always loved the butter lovers Pop Secret popcorn though- so delicious! Looks like you definitely enjoyed the snow day!

Oh man… You don’t have Pop-Secret? That is a crime in its self!!! Something about this has to be done! I grew up on Pop-Secret! I log homemade too, we had purple pop-corn once… no idea what it meant by being purple but it was good! Haha. We really did! It was so much fun and I am glad I was able to work with pop-secret to create these memories!!

Kids like fun and exciting experiments at home. Whether it be building a fort or baking cookies, I bet everything will be enjoyable especially when done together as a happy family. I like popcorn and my favorite is the caramel flavor. That one with extra butter looked yummy!

I agree. When we do things as a family it is really more enjoyable. I love having my camera on hand to take photos. Photographs are so important to me. Caramel is one of my favorites too. I love caramel in general! Hehe

Popcorn is totally my weakness! Have you tried those seasonings they have out now? My daughter loves the Pop Secret light butter flavor with nacho cheese flavoring. I tried making my own to keep the preservatives out of the flavoring, but it was an epic fail lol! We firmly believe in the 80/20 rule on that one haha. Great job to the boys on their fort building skills, they’ve inspired us to make one on our next snow day!

Haha. I wish I knew what you put on them! You could make home made caramel and pour it on. I want to make them with marshmallows. Like a rice krispy treat but with popcorn. Mmm I think it would be yummy and some chocolate! hehehe Yay for forts!! They really are so much fun!!

He made a great fort! I think my fort would be fairly boring I seem to lack creativity in that aspect. I love Pop Secret popcorn it’s one of my favorites to make for a movie night snack. I like to mix in some chocolate chips so yummy!

Haha, My fort would have been boring too! That is pretty much why he got suckered into making it. He was happy too and I did clean it up! =P I remember as a kid eating pop-corn and watching I love Lucy with my bestie! One of the greatest nights!

Now that is just not fair. I want a cool fort and some buttered popsecret too :). It looks like everyone is having the best time {without me}. I’ve got to find a space in my studio apt. for the grands to make a fort the next time they come over. Short on space but I’m sure I can pull it off for the chance to eat some popcorn with them.

I am so sorry we didn’t invite you! Next time, I Promise! There is always room for a fort, just have to get creative and use the things you have! I hope you are able to do it when the grands come over! It should be fun! =)

Ahhhhh, what a great boyfriend you have, that looks like so much fun – I’m sure your boy looooved his snow day. ;) I have fond memories of my dad doing similar things with me… draping blankets over foldable tables for forts, letting me eat fun junk food (normally prohibited by my mom, of course), and letting me watch tv (I was only allowed to watch 1 hour a week, usually saved for Saturday cartoons, or the Cosby Show). You’ve just described one of my best childhood memories. ;) I’ll have to re-create it in the future for my own child – thanks!

He really is great! I am sure I am a pain in the butt but he loves me so I smile. Hehe. It was a lot of fun! Jaiden loves school but he does love the days off more! It is really the little things like this that bring back the memories. I mentioned in another comment about how I remember having a bowl of pop-secret popcorn and watching I love Lucy with my childhood best friend. It is the little things that we remember when we are older! That is something I will always remember! I hope you do get to share those memories with your kiddies! I bet they would love it!

To me, this sounds like the perfect snow day – a day with popcorn and TV. I’m not a big fan of snow or winter, but I love popcorn. My mom used to make a lot of popcorn when I was little, and I still love eating it today.

It is the perfect day! I like winter as long as I am inside. It is just a great season to cuddle up on the couch under the blankets with your other half, kids, pets, or even alone. Watch a movie, hang out, read a book. Just the perfect season for all of those things. At least for me it is. Popcorn seems to be that child hood memory every seems to have. =) I love it!

Forts are so much fun, just a great way to use your imagination. You can do anything in your fort. I remember being a kid and thinking my fort was like a castle or something. Haha

I 100% agree with you that kids should be kids. I love that you’re a strict mom though who has brought your son up to be well mannered and respectful too, that’s lacking in many kids these days I find but I hope to be the same with my son. He looks so sweet in his little fort with his bowl of popcorn. I now want to make some popcorn for my boy and I to share. It looks delicious!

I sometime forget that he’s just a kid. I know at times I can be to strict but i do my best to take a step back. He’s a good kid and I am very proud of him! He’s not perfect and has his bad days but he is a kid. =) I am sure you are a great mom. Just go with you gut. I always did what I felt was right and not let other’s influence how I raised my son. =)

Pop Secret is our go to brand for popcorn! For movies nights down to fun recipes the kids and I make. Making forts is like a really fun thing to do with the kids, I remember making them growing up, it’s a ton of fun. Making memories with your children is a must these days.

I love using popcorn for recipes. Cover them in chocolate and caramel and all those goodies. Making memories is really important. I don’t have a load of good memories so I try to do my best to have my son have as many good ones as possible!
