6 Ways to De-Stress and Refocus Yourself

6 ways to de-stress and refocus yourself.

Something I haven’t mentioned as of yet is that I enrolled back into college! It was something I have wanted to do since moving to Colorado but wasn’t sure where I wanted to go or for what. I finally took the plunge for the Fall semester and I am extremely excited. Deciding to go back full-time which has now become a bit overwhelming for me. I have 5 classes, plus my son and my blog. I also have orders for knitted and crochet items. My plate became full very fast. I started to get a stress headache which lasted about 3 days. Because of this, I want to share with you 6 ways to de-stress and refocus yourself.

6 ways to de-stress and refocus yourself.

This post is sponsored by Suave, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

My anxiety level was going through the roof and I started to become overwhelmed and emotional. My first day of classes, which I just had my math classes, became so much that I sat on my bed and cried. Reading over the assignments, the quizzes, and the syllabus was overwhelming and a lot to take in that I just completely broke down. I had to find some ways to de-stress and refocus myself.

Read a Book.

Reading is one of my favorite past times. Finding that book that will take you away is just an amazing feeling. You become taken away and into the story where you can feel what they are feeling. It becomes magical. Then, you can’t put it down because you want to know what happened next. The is the perfect book! There are so many different kinds of books out there, your options are endless!

Take a Walk.

Walking is one of my favorite things to do to clear my mind, plus its great exercise. Get yourself up and grab some headphones and hit the sidewalk! Walking gets your body moving and the blood flowing. It’s a great way to take a break and come back re-focused!

Take a Hot Shower or Soak in the tub.

One of my favorite things to do when I become so overwhelmed is to soak in the tub or take a hot shower. It becomes this quiet place with the sounds of running water and the steam and just brings my anxiety level down. Pair that up with some your favorite body wash it becomes such a relaxing moment. I’m a huge fan of Suave Essentials Body Wash. My favorites are Cocoa Butter & Shea and Milk & Honey Splash. I’m not even gonna lie, not only to I use them every day, I totally use them for a bubble bath! My skin becomes so silky soft and the aroma along with the steam just relaxes me completely.

Make your surroundings relaxing.

This one gets me often. If my room is a mess and things are out-of-place, I become overwhelmed and can’t focus for the life of me. Keeping your area clean and organized will help keep you focused. Also, light some candles. Candles and wax warmers can help relax the room and remove some of the tension.

Enjoy a Hot Drink during the Cool Evening Breeze.

This! This is one of those things I just love. Sitting outside in the cool breeze with a nice hot coffee and just being able to breathe is so relaxing to me. Enjoy nature and take it all in. Allow yourself that peace and relaxation. Your brain and body need the break and it’s okay to take one.

Write your Thoughts Out.

This is something I have always done. When my mind becomes so full of thoughts, idea,s and every time in-between, I find writing all of my thoughts down to be extremely helpful. It becomes pages of “word vomit” so to speak, but getting everything off your chest it one of the best way to de-stress yourself.

Out of these 6 ways to de-stress and refocus yourself, I have to say a hot shower or soaking in a tub is one of my favorites. It just completely takes over and allows my mind and body to come to a complete relaxation. The steam from the hot water, some country music in the background and the aroma from my Suave Essentials body wash, I am good to go. One thing I love about Suave is the collection of scents they have to offer. I swear they have a scent for anyone and any occasion.

Oh, did you know that Suave has a quiz you can take? It’s called the Suave Body Wash quiz and with just a few short clicks you will get your suggested scent. I took it twice. I wanted to get Cocoa Butter and Shea! HAHA! You also get $0.75 promo code for Ibotta!

Take the quiz, come back and tell me what scent you got! I’d love to know!

My mom always used Suave products when we were kids. Suave has several good scents that I remember from my childhood. I haven’t used them personally in years, though. I will have to try them out soon.

You have officially covered every way I enjoy to unwind. My favorite is to combine the soaking in tub, with relaxing atmosphere with candles and aromatherapy, and just journal to some sweet, soft music. This is my “mommy time” mantra.

I love the ideas. I know I have to find a way to relax and de-stress but somehow I always put myself on the last place. I know this is a mom thing, but seriously – every mom needs to chill oncein a while!

As a mom, it’s tough to get some time to yourself, but I definitely make sure that I get my alone time too. I need to take care of myself and rejuvenate! These are all lovely ideas! I always end up reading a book while eating my favorite dessert.
