5 Reason Why Your Kids Should Ride Their Bikes

August 2, 2017

As a kid, one thing I loved to do was ride my bike. My friends and I use to race up and down our block for hours. However, back then, we didn’t have iPads, Netflix and Xbox. We played outside until the street light came on. However, the times have changed and we live in a technology world. There is nothing wrong with this, but we have to remember to kick our kids out of the house and outside to play. I want to share with you 5 reason why your kids should ride their bikes.

Though I am okay with my son playing on his iPad and Xbox, I want him to play outside as well. Technology isn’t everything and before my son knows it, his childhood is going to be over and he’s going to wish he played outside more. I feel like kids these days think technology is everything and if they miss out on playing their favorite games, the world is going to end. Jaiden loves riding his bike and that is the reason I wanted to share with you all 5 reasons why your kids should ride their bikes.

5 Reasons Why Your Child Should Ride Their Bike

It’s fun.

Riding your bike is simply fun. It’s a great way to get the kids out of the house and let them have fun. They can make up games and races to keep themselves occupied for hours of fun. Jaiden loves riding his bike and enjoys going in circles and seeing how fast he can go.

Keeps kids physically active.

Bike riding uses a ton of muscles that kids don’t even realize they are getting a great workout. It keeps them active, their muscles moving and their heart going strong. Kids don’t usually like the word exercise as they feel it means work but they don’t realize half the games they play outside like riding bikes, is exercise.

It has health Benefits.

Riding your bike has great health benefits. Your muscles become stronger with all the different movements you do over and over. And because of the speed, you can improve your heart. Riding your bike will also make other activities easier because you have already exercised with bike riding.

It’s good for the environment.

Riding your bike is a great means of transportation. While riding in a car can be faster and maybe more comfortable, bike riding doesn’t impact the environment like cars do. Car pollution is one of the major issues we have today toward global warming. By riding your bike, you are helping the environment.

It’s something the family can do together.

Though we live in a world of technology, families should still spend time together and do things as a family. Riding bikes together is a great way to stay active and enjoy each other company while creating fun everlasting memories.

As a little girl, I loved riding my bike. It was one of my favorite things to do. I am now a proud mom to a little boy who also loves riding his bike. Loves riding it so much he is always coming in with skinned knees and stretches. Which is okay, because he’s having fun and that is all that matters. There are many different reasons why your kids or even you should ride your bike but at the end of the day it’s all about having fun and creating memories. So, now hop off the computer, grab your helmets and bikes and go riding with your family!

We lived in a rural area without a good place to ride bikes, so I did not ride much as a kid. My daughter has already ridden much more in her young life than I ever did. My boys like to ride bikes, too.

Your photography is gorgeous! I remember how much fun I had riding my bike to my friend’s house when I was younger. I definitely think it’s important for kids to stay active these days.

Some of my best memories were riding bikes with friends. I have a 14-year-old who never learned to ride due to motor skill issues although he tried. It’s something that he’d like to do someday. You are 100% correct in all 5 reasons for riding a bike. It is healthy, fun, and something the entire family can participate in.

I used to spend the summers with my dad in Indiana, and bike riding was a tradition for us. We used to ride all around the neighborhood and even race. I too grew up when there were no tablets or xboxes to be glued too. Very nostalgic reading this post!

A little over a year ago, we moved to a neighborhood that is perfect for bike riding. My kids love to go out and about on their adventures…and now that they’re older, I let them go a around the block (with periodic check-ins…ha!). I think bike riding is such a great activity for kids and grown ups, too!

My kids love riding their bikes! Last summer my husband made it a daily event where he would take all of our boys on a bike ride. They would start here together and ride all the way to the park which is about a mile away. They would rest and then turn around and come back. They still talk about how fun that was together. Such a great family bonding activity!

I used to love riding my bike when I was a kid so riding a bike with my daughter nowadays is so much fun. She was not much into it at first and is really cautious so she wears a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads. She is really paranoid about getting hurt which is nice as a mom knowing that she is being careful. We have a lot of fun riding our bikes together, I love it.

I rode my bike all over as a kid. My son has had bikes as he grew up but never took an interest. I wish I could understand why but he just has no interest in it.
